Nodes of Conscious Network
The nature of nodes can vary greatly from network to network, be it in terms of availability, feasibility, ease of use, or utility. For instance, some networks are as straightforward as running a node and becoming a participant in the network, whereas others would require a stake. In a similar vein, some nodes can be run on relatively old devices, whereas others would require specialized hardware due to the vast amount of resources they consume.
Typically, however, most networks utilize one to three types of nodes, with few, like Conscious, going as far as utilizing four. The number of nodes does not necessarily have any inherent explicit implications but does suggest some indication of flexibility in a protocol.
Generally, the more nodes a network has, the more secure and decentralized it becomes; the more types of nodes it has, the more it can accomplish without necessarily compromising the aforementioned benefits. Having both would ensure that said benefits are indeed present and that the protocol can now complete a wider set of tasks efficiently.
Conscious Network utilizes four distinct nodes for these very purposes. While the types of nodes are one factor, the specific types utilized (i.e. their specific functions) are also a key component. In other words, the types of nodes don’t matter as much as the
specific tasks of said nodes, which makes all the difference as far as utility is concerned.
Super Node
Usually, when networks offer high throughput without sacrificing scalability or security, they opt for high-performance nodes that often come at the cost of decentralization. To realize the substantial scalability Conscious Network aims for, but, with ample consideration for its decentralization, Conscious utilizes a node it calls the super node in a specific way to achieve results according to the aforementioned specifications.
As such, the super node is responsible for the Layer-2 aspect of the network, providing high TPS while simultaneously inheriting the base layer’s security properties. While some decentralization is sacrificed, in the broader picture, the ecosystem as a whole maintains an adequate level of decentralization.
While any user can become a super node, only seven are chosen to run simultaneously; specifically, only the top 7 CVN stakers are eligible for qualification. This is to ensure that the node operator is capable of providing the network with the performance required to run it efficiently, in addition to the standard line of reasoning behind high-level staking.
Validator Node
Validator Nodes serve as the bedrock of packaging and security within the network and play a vital role in generating Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus blocks on the Layer-1 of Conscious Network, ensuring the integrity and trustworthiness of the entire system.
At its core, the Validator Nodes are entrusted with two crucial responsibilities: the production of consensus blocks and the safeguarding of other nodes within the network. These nodes are open to participation by all staking users, democratizing the network and empowering stakeholders to actively contribute to the network's operations.
Within the Conscious Network, the top 100 users with the highest staked amount of CVN tokens assume the role of active packaging nodes. These distinguished participants, through their demonstrated commitment and contribution to the network, earn the privilege of actively engaging in block generation. Their expertise and dedication ensure the smooth functioning and consistent progress of the network.
The remaining staking users who do not fall within the top 100 are designated as reserve nodes. Although not directly involved in the active packaging of blocks, these reserve nodes hold a pivotal position in maintaining the network's security and resilience. They are prepared to step in when needed, ready to assume the role of active packaging nodes and contribute to the network's consensus process. This dynamic structure ensures a scalable and adaptable system, capable of accommodating evolving demands.
Random Nodes
Within the Conscious Network framework, random nodes emerge as the pillars that empower the network's AI functionality. These nodes play a pivotal role in facilitating a wide array of capabilities, ranging from supporting MPC wallets to accommodating IoT devices. Their inherent capacity as light nodes grant Conscious Network the flexibility and versatility necessary to advance AI-driven services within its ecosystem.
The significance of Random Nodes extends beyond their role as facilitators of AI integration. These nodes are uniquely positioned to collect vital data from IoT devices, enabling AI training and fostering the gradual development of AI services within the network. By harnessing the power of distributed intelligence, Conscious Network aims to position itself near the forefront of technological advancement, nurturing a rich ecosystem where AI-driven solutions flourish.
A key attribute of Random Nodes lies in their ability to ensure randomness within the network. In a landscape, increasingly reliant on secure and unpredictable outcomes, Conscious Network recognizes the importance of incorporating genuine randomness into its operations. Random Nodes, especially in large numbers, serve as the wellspring of authentic randomness within the network. This foundational element is critical in maintaining the integrity and robustness of various processes and applications built upon Conscious Network.
To contribute to the network as Random Nodes, users can adopt the light wallet developed by ConsciousDAO. This wallet facilitates the integration of individuals into the Conscious Network ecosystem. By providing a user-friendly and lightweight wallet, participants become active contributors to the network's AI capabilities and the generation of true randomness.
IPFS Node
The IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) node serves as the fundamental building block of the metaverse and a key enabler of data security, IPFS Nodes play a critical role in empowering users within the network. It forms the backbone of Conscious Network's decentralized storage infrastructure, embodying the network's commitment to eliminating single points of failure and fostering a distributed and resilient ecosystem.
By leveraging the power of IPFS, Conscious Network establishes a groundbreaking paradigm where data is stored, accessed, and shared in a truly decentralized manner.
One of the primary functions of the IPFS Node is to serve as the custodian of private data for Random Nodes. As Random Nodes engage in collecting valuable information from IoT devices and contribute to AI training, it is imperative to protect the confidentiality and integrity of their data. The IPFS Node acts as a safeguard, ensuring that private data remains secure and accessible only to authorized entities within the network.
Furthermore, IPFS Nodes provide essential storage services within Conscious Network. Through their robust and distributed architecture, these nodes create an environment where data can be stored, replicated, and accessed seamlessly. By leveraging the power of decentralized storage, Conscious Network mitigates reliance on centralized entities and enhances data availability, durability, and accessibility across the network.
To encourage broad participation and inclusion, Conscious Network adopts an open approach to IPFS Nodes. Anyone who installs the Conscious Network Exclusive Storage Node Protocol automatically assumes the role of an IPFS Node. This democratic and inclusive model ensures that every participant within the network has the opportunity to contribute to its decentralized storage infrastructure.
